    Hello darlings

Opening night went brilliantly and I think I've finally got the hang of this costume (what little there is of it, by Merlin).

I wanted to write more but I'm so tired.

Happy birthday to my wonderful husband who doesn't mind celebrating until after the matinee (as though he doesn't have enough work to do himself, not but a few more months in uni)
    I love you darling.

When you read this tomorrow, girls, I hope you had fun at the party, terribly sorry I had to miss it. Odette, you'll get your present on Monday, I swear it's worth the wait.

I AM NOT DOING THE MUSICAL. I AM NOT, MARK, SO DON'T EVEN TRY ME.

No matches until the ninth, a lovely holiday break, I can't complain. Not to say we won't be very hard at work, but at least I might get a chance to meet Emily's little boy Daniel. If I'm not considered too impure to see him.

We were talking about going to the free Puffskeins/Omnioculars concert tomorrow, but for once in my life I can say I might actually enjoy spending more time at home than out in the crowd.

I hope that everyone had a happy Christmas and Boxing Day, and will have an even better New Year's.

I'm looking very forward to 1982.

I invited my niece Erin, nephew Jonathan, and sister-in-law Anne to the Harpies' match against the Bats. I actually procured the tickets yesterday, but there's no fucking point, because the fucking Death Eaters murdered Edgar and his family tonight and I fucking SWEAR

I wish I could say someone would fucking pay for this but I'm not nearly as naive as I used to be, so fuck it. Just fuck it.

Sunday we closed the first weekend of Midsummer, and it was really incredible; we've one weekend to go -- if you missed it, there's no excuse! The Bard is calling and there's no denying him, darlings.

Three days until my lovely sister's birthday, four days until the wedding and five until the honeymoon, so it's a very exciting week and I just cannot CANNOT wait.

Oh, and the girls would probably like me to mention this? There's going to be a party on Friday night that Tess and Tori swear up and down is for me but I really doubt it, since I obviously can't attend and they all know that -- anyway, they're taking over the Stone Circle whether the owner likes it or not, I think.

My head is buzzing in this really strange way that's either adrenaline or exhaustion and it is so, so tempting to get drunk just to have some fun, I should see if Alex will, maybe

For the record, I have no comment about Emily or Jenny's departure from the team, so it would be very much appreciated if any Quidditch reporters who come to the Third Circle would stop trying to get my attention, as though I'm going to drunkenly spout off something ridiculous.

Off-season has allowed things to all fall quite nicely into line for me -- a bit of work at the Third Circle, more than enough time for rehearsal. I'm off-book, or knock on wood, I hope I'm offbook. Also, the cast is just... amazing, it's only been a few weeks and already this show is a riot.

The wedding is in a little over a month. Right now we're in discussions about the cake. This whole big wedding thing is more complicated than I might have dared thought.

I will outright admit that I've run lines with Kingsley just so we could have this exchange:
Helena (me): O, when she's angry, she is keen and shrewd!
    She was a vixen when she went to school;
And though she be but little, she is fierce.

Hermia (Kingsley): 'Little' again! nothing but 'low' and 'little'!
Why will you suffer her to flout me thus?
    Let me come to her.

Shakespearean short jokes. I do love this play. Francis, can I run lines with you next?

The third of my second cousins -- three girls, poor Wayne will be outnumbered! -- came along recently, the lovely Victoria Frobisher, who's got just as much fighting spirit as her parents. Sam, she's darling, between her and Leah I am terribly jealous of your Frobisher genes.

No good matches this week. On the other hand, due to a stroke of luck I happen to have four tickets to Bats/Wasps. Anyone interested?

It's spring and that means I get to wear my favourite skirts. Alex doesn't think there's really enough material for them to be considered skirts, but I think he's too distracted to be a reliable judge, you know?

Tornadoes on the 15th, it should be a real fight and God knows I love a fight. The kids'll be out of Hogwarts by then for hols, so be sure to formally introduce me to that adorable blonde of yours when the two of you attend the match, Clive, I don't think I've had the pleasure.

If the press doesn't notice that Tori crawled into Darren O'Hare's lap tonight at the Third Circle and professed having sex dreams about him, I will be frankly impressed.

Hm, otherwise we went to the opening night of Candlelight's production of Chekhov's Three Sisters, and it was utterly devastating and wonderful. Haven't a doubt in my mind that Midsummer's Night Dream will receive the same treatment, as the Bard rightfully deserves.

Mark your calendars, darlings, if you enjoy a good stint of partying. March 22 marks the end of my contract, and I fully plan to celebrate straight through into March 23, the re-opening of the Third Circle. The right people might just find themselves with an invitation within the week.

Haven't mentioned this for a while, but, 40 days until my contract is up. (How very biblical, appropriate, and full circle.) I'm thinking a party may be necessary on the day itself (22 March), something obscenely huge to commemorate just how very drunk I used to get. I'll see what I can pull together; I've plans set already within the week, but if there's one thing I can do, darlings, it's make things happen.

    Speaking of, we've set a date. 22 July 1981.

    Oh, and? Go Harpies.

Here I am, in betrothed bliss, all of that, everyone knows now. I hope none of you are offended that they heard second-hand, but we're from the class of 1979, darlings, we knew what we were in for, and a few days of uninterrupted silence were perfect, I have to say.

It's still perfect, though, just perfection with a dash of Lynches and Quigleys, which, if we were anything less, could ruin the lot of it.

Everyone had better be celebrating this New Year's Eve, no matter what the situation at home or what looms outside, because there's only once a year you can leave these things behind.

    Go Harpies.

Well, they didn't choose the nude shot, but I definitely think I still look all right, hm?

Bit odd, because I wasn't even really posing for that one on purpose. Lovely free day trip to New Zealand, I almost didn't want to come back. Alex, I am so taking you there someday, it's fantastic.

Everyone else looks amazing, too, it's a good year. Buy the calendar if you haven't yet, boys, you won't regret it. (Em, you look stunning, and I didn't even know you had that tattoo, Tess.)

Oh, it's a terribly busy time you know, I'm just running my fine arse off here to there and back again. There are, of course, practices to attend, games to play, children to babysit, meals to cook, and flats to move into. That's right, I've bid farewell to two of my favourite girls, Carol and Alicia, and we're back in Birmingham. Lovely place, Derek set us up better than well, and though we have our fair share of boxes we're nearly moved in.

It's even got a closet big enough for most of my things. As always, I still need a bit of extended storage, but the important things -- including all but three pairs of shoes -- are organised and settled, and there's even room for Alex's clothes. Definitely an amazing feat, that. It'll take a house to store all of my things.

The holiday season approaches, with formal events abounding, and that leads me to my main point, darlings. I know there's many a girl who just can't find the dress that's perfect for her without a keen and discerning eye, and that, my loves, is why I'm offering my help.

Answer two or three questions and I will personally go out of my way to pick up to four lovely options of a dress/shoe/accessory set. Owl, comment here, we can work out details later, and depending on circumstances I may just do it out of the kindness of my heart.

Dagny, your mother and I've already talked, and you're down in my appointment book, I'll see you the weekend after our game against the Bats. We have quite a few events to dress you up for, you know.

Calendar's due out in a few weeks! I'm excited to see, can't lie. What I saw of the pictures, the girls look great, of course -- nearly as great as we've been playing this season. As always -- go Harpies.

    He woke up!

I went to look in on Alex and Francis and I was in his room eating takeout curry, and he just started to move and cr he woke up. In a lot of pain and I guess he's bleeding again, probably why they made me leave, but at least he's awake

They opened the door, I'm going to check and I WILL report back, but he's awake!

180 days down, 185 left, and in two and a half days it'll be the halfway point. That's six months of sobriety.

    Go Harpies.

Oh, and Tess? If I were you, I'd avoid your usual contraceptive potions, the ones in your purse. A few of them magically turned into fertility potions, and we wouldn't want any drunken rolls in the hay leading to career-ending mishaps, now would we?

So Dagny Nowles has proven herself worth her contract!

For all naysayers or those who might have doubted the Quidditch skills of Slytherin's be-trousered Rising Beauty, let me promise you that she is not half bad. Yeah, the new girls had a tough week, but they always do, and considering that first-string practices are roughly seven times more intense, I'm not feeling too badly for them right now. Welcome to the pros, right?

Anyway, it's fantastic being first-string, and playing with the main girls, because to be honest it was damned insulting to watch Amelie last year when I was pounding shots past both our Keepers (and naysayers can once again keep their smug mouths to themselves about our Keepers), but I see why they waited. Still, it's good to finally be with people who're in the same league as I am.

(You can tell I just finished babysitting, I'm not swearing. Anthony and Susan are gorgeous little wonders of the world, let me tell you. Very little is cuter than Anthony Bones gnawing on a carrot.)

This time last year I would've finished a bottle on my own by now.
153 days down, 212 to go. I passed 150 on Thursday but I didn't bother to say anything because really I am too fucking busy to obsess. Cheers!

Practices start on Monday, informal practices started already, Cece and Em and I already tossing a Quaffle around or that sort of thing. Tess was banned from the field after nearly beheading our poor little reserve Beater -- she screamed like a horror queen, I nearly died of my sides splitting -- but no one except Em and I thought it was funny. Oh well!

135 days down, 221 days left, nearly a year since I detoxed and a little over four months since I started cooking with Angela. Reportedly there's still some chocolate cake left over from our own little celebration of that on Sunday, but who knows.

So there's really no telling with the Holyhead Harpies if you're going to make it each year or not, or so I was told when I got on -- I'd replaced the fifth first reserve they'd had in seven years. The day after tryouts is a bit grueling, since it takes Martin, our publicist, and our fearless and fearful Captain Cecily Edwards exactly two hours to figure out who to hire and fire, including snark time. You always get the results the day after.

The girls have a bit of a thing each year the day after tryouts, all twelve of us at our own table at a bar we choose at a whim, mostly just so that we don't have to drink alone. There we are sitting at The Stone Circle -- by the way, I literally can't drink, so I got to watch them all drink, THAT WAS FUN, THANKS GIRLS -- anyway, there we are and the owls arrive.

And we all bought Amelie a round of drinks to herself when she was kicked off the team.

Because ladies and gentlemen, guess who's the new third Chaser for the Holyhead Harpies?

    Me.

By the way? 116 days down, 249 days left, and I'm walking on air.

286 days left, 79 down. I'm out of the 300s now, which is great.

I swear I could compose sonnets to the off-season. I mean, no practice is a real downer, and it was a hell of a way to watch matches, but I'm looking forward to summer and sunbathing (all right so I've already got a start on that) and all sorts of lying around things.

I need a job. I'm thinking waitress, if I could only find a bar. Hmmm. Any suggestions? Of jobs or bars.

And I'll just say here -- I love my cousins. All of you. (Maddie, we have to go shopping once you're out of school, agreed?) And of course my brothers and Lizzie, that goes without saying.

Nearly a month until we're divorced.

I moved! A few days ago, actually. Carol and Alicia let me move into the spare room in their flat, and they are amazing. Bloody saints, really. They're tolerating my food experiments, they must be nice.

Even so, I might actually end up missing that sorry rubbish bin of Victor's, it was always an adventure seeing what I'd have to drag the landlord up for next, but this is nice. It's cosy.

    Highlights of my life recently:
Lots of rumours about a new lineup next year (probably a good idea anyway)
Carol and Alex being really really cute best mates. REALLY cute.
Hannah being terribly photogenic when I took a picture of her to show around and brag
    Quigley's pregnancy scare HAHAHA
Making Susan laugh (insanely cute, I tell you)
Lizzie's baby kicking an awful lot (she's six months pregnant, can you believe it?)
Anthony plucking at the strings of Francis's guitar
Jon dragging me outside to play and he and I sort of playing football while Erin watched

Good times. I am so glad to have the people I have in my life these days, I can't even say how much.

308 days left, 57 days down. Two months 'til the divorce is final, thank Christ.
